Saab Owners Convention 2008 - Update 8/11/08

An SOC08 Day Pass good for both Friday and Saturday will be issued at a cost of $40.00 per person for SCNA, VSCNA and NESA members and their guests. Non-Member passes will be $50.00 which includes a trial membership to SCNA for two months, an issue of NINES, the magazine of the SCNA, and discounts at many Saab dealers and independent shops! They can only be purchased at the Devens Common Center Lobby and will require completion of an SCNA Hold Harmless Agreement required by our event insurance policy. Children 12 and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult with a Day Pass. A Day Pass will allow the bearer to: view all car displays and the Saab Heritage Collection, shop at the Saab Parts Hangar and all vendors; and, use the Dyno after paying the $75.00 fee. Use of the Dyno by someone with a Day Pass does not qualify for the Saab Dyno Challenge. A Day Pass user can enter into the Poker Run and Saab Test Drives. A Day Pass DOES NOT provide any meals including lunches, Welcome Dinner or the Convention Banquet that includes the Awards Ceremonies. Access to seminars, tech sessions or roundtables is also NOT included. Participation in the Concours, Peoples’ Choice (including the Crisman Award) or Saab Dyno Challenge is NOT included.

The google map address has been changed to accurately reflect the physical address of the venue July 1, 2008 The Saab Owners' Convention Committee 2008 (SOC08) apologizes for the lack of Convention information on the SOC website. SOC08 is being held at the Devens Common Center, 27 Andrews Parkway, Devens, MA (formerly the US Army's Fort Devens). The main hotel for the Convention is the Marriott SpringHill Suite which adjoins the Common Center. The events will be at the Common Center, hotel grounds and the nearby Museum Fields. SpringHill Suites is now fully booked. The SOC08 Committee made arrangements through SpringHill Suites to have their affiliated facilities in the area honor the Saab Club rate. As many of you know, we were planning an Autocross this year. Unfortunately we could not get the agency responsible for the property to agree to allow the Autocross and all attempts to find another suitable, local venue were futile. Refunds will be made to those folks who had already registered for the Autocross or the Viking Challenge.

Join us for a special tour of historical Boston. We start at 8 am at the Devans Conference Center and have bus transportation from the Devens Conference Center to the Boston Commons, the starting point for the historical "Freedom Trail." View the Old North Church, historical Faneul Hall. We will break for lunch, giving you the opportunity to experience famous Durgan Park, or the Italian North End. We then continue to the Constitution, famous from the War of 1812. Or spend your day independently in downtown Boston, meeting us at the Constitution . Expected return is 5pm, maybe later with traffic.
